A diary from the Synergy Vision team from sunrise to lights out. This week we have Eileen Gallagher, Executive Director of Synergy Vision.

My alarm goes off…

At 5am. 6am if I’m lucky – my ‘alarm’ is my 2-year-old and my partner, both of whom are larks … me, I’m an owl but obviously adaptable! I generally arrive at the office between 8–8.30am and, after switching on my laptop, it's coffee and toast while I read through my emails and prioritize the day’s activities.

I’m responsible for…

As Executive Director at SV, my role is varied and vast.  From making strategic business decisions to following-up on the latest technological advances, opportunities and changes within our industry. I’m very much a people person, so taking time to provide input or guidance on projects to the team is a key – and enjoyable – part of my role.

I got the job…

Way back at the beginning of SV, enticed by the opportunity to work with our MD Ffyona to develop a forward-thinking agency, focused on delivering excellent medical education and event support for the pharma industry. Having spent 12 years within Pharma, we understood the frustrations faced by many teams working with agencies, and we were motivated and compelled to build an agency that brought insight, knowledge and experience. We genuinely care about the success of each project and the positive impact, difference and added value our contributions can make.

My typical day…

As many within our world will say, we don’t have typical days. But one constant is that you need to seek to understand the issue/objective and tailor a solution accordingly – by being on top of latest developments within industry, technology and the creative world, you can generally provide greater guidance and support.

My most memorable work moment…

In almost 10 years with SV there are many to choose from, but I’d say it would have to be winning that very first pitch all those years ago, from which, due to the commitment, dedication and hard work of all the team, we were able to continue to succeed and build a thriving business with consistent, exceptional client feedback.

The most challenging part of my job…

It’s not all plain sailing of course, but being realistic, adaptable and open-minded helps to ease the many challenges we face.

The best part of my job…

Working with our great teams to deliver valuable and meaningful communications based on sound scientific data. It’s an age-old adage, but it still rings true … right message, right audience, right media.

After work…

I’ve made a commitment to re-introduce myself to the gym for 2017 – makes sense to use rather than just pay for it! But for me, there’s nothing better than catching up with friends and family for great food and chatting late into the night … after all, I need indulge my inner owl at times!
